Micro Arc microscopic welding company history

Microarc Welding Service Co. - microscopic welding major customers by region Micro Arc was founded in 1988 by Scott Malkasian, an accomplished mold maker who had worked in his family tool and die business for nearly 10 years. Scott developed an intense interest in welding and became the in-house welder for his family's company.

He recognized that welding could be used not only for routine repairs, but for extremely precise repairs to the company’s molds. Welding under a microscope with the most advanced welding tools available, he developed techniques for making fine repairs to tools and dies. He perfected his technique to the degree that he could weld with surgical precision, repairing molds so that they were as good as if they were brand new. He honed his welding skills for nearly 10 years, becoming one of a handful of the most elite micro-welders in the world.

Recognizing the potential for a wide application of his skills, he formed Micro Arc Welding Service Company, Inc. in 1988.

As his business grew, he began an extensive search for qualified welders to add to his team. Because of the level of skill required, it took nearly 10 years to build the team of experts he has today.

Micro Arc’s team of micro-dimensional welders continues to grow. The company now has the capacity to handle larger orders – and to turn them around in as little as 24 hours when necessary.

With a fully equipped machine shop right on-site, Scott’s team can take on tough repairs and get them done on time, on budget – and within the required tolerance.

“These guys are amazing! I’ve sent them a wide variety of parts (hooks, loopers, and various other odds and ends) to repair and have even asked them to manufacture some parts. If you have a job and they can’t do it, no one can.”
-Wemco-New Orleans, La.
“When I got the repaired part back I thought they had sent me a new one by accident and my machine couldn’t tell the difference either.”
- Flair Interiors-Bristol, Ind.
“Our needle plates weren’t working properly. We called the manufacturer about correcting the faulty design. They wouldn’t help us. We sent the plates to Micro Arc to have them altered to the specs we needed. They gave us exactly what we wanted and for a nominal cost.”
- Lee Jeans-Russelville, Al.
“We needed a part and were unable to get it from our supplier for two weeks. We were really in a bind. We overnighted it to Micro Arc. They had it back in our plant the next day, good as new and for 1/3rd the price of a new part.”
-Fabritech-Fishers, Ind.
“I had a part that other welders and welding suppliers said couldn’t be welded. I needed the part desperately so I sent it to Micro Arc anyway. Much to my surprise it came back looking brand new!”
-H & H Atlas-Bronx, N.Y.
“The hooks I had redone by Micro Arc, with the more wear resistant steel, lasted twice as long as new hooks.”
-Arc’ Teryx-Vancouver, B.C., Canada

-The Strouse, Adler Co.- New Haven, Conn.
“Because my mechanics prefer the performance of the Micro Arc retipped hooks to that of new ones, I need to keep them hidden in my office to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to use them.”
-Red Kap-Cookeville, Tenn.
